Breed

There’s something honest about matching a dog’s name to its breed. Not because it’s required—any dog can wear any name with dignity—but because it feels right. A German Shepherd named Klaus carries himself differently than one named Fluffy. Maybe it’s the weight of expectation, or maybe we just see what we want to see.

I’ve watched enough dogs to know that breed matters, but not in the way most people think. It’s not about pedigree or bloodlines. It’s about understanding what your dog was bred to do, then honoring that with a name that fits. A Border Collie named Scout makes sense. So does a Bulldog named Winston.
